The Portal’s Data Explorer interactive map makes it possible to view thousands of data layers on the ocean ecosystem, economy, and culture of the northeastern United States. The data layers are organized into 17 Topics, including 8 Marine Life & Habitat Topics and 9 Human Dimensions Topics. For each Topic, the Portal has a page that provides key information about data updates, data sources and providers, subtopics, data considerations, data status, and examples of data.

Topic pages may be accessed by clicking the tiles below on this page, or on any page by using the site navigation menu or the Topics list in the page footer. In the Data Explorer, Topic information may be viewed by clicking the Topic Information icon next to each Topic heading.
