There have been several recent updates to the Portal’s Offshore Wind Projects page to reflect BOEM’s offshore wind planning, leasing, and permitting activities. That page includes the permitting status of each project and maps of detailed project plans (e.g., proposed turbine and substation locations) when available for each project. A summary of the recent updates is below.
BOEM public comment periods are currently open for the Atlantic Shores North (through May 2) and Vineyard Northeast (through May 9) offshore wind projects.
Several offshore wind projects have been recently approved or advanced through the permitting process. This includes:
- New England Wind – approved on April 2 / completed environmental analysis on February 26
- Sunrise Wind – approved on March 26
- Vineyard Northeast – announcement of environmental review on March 22
- Atlantic Shores North – announcement of environmental review on March 15
- Empire Wind – approved Construction and Operations Plan on February 22
