This map shows the abundance of sand lance.

Data Considerations

The Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC) collected the data in fall bottom-trawl surveys from 2007 to 2011. The dataset spans from the Gulf of Maine to Virginia Beach, Virginia, extending out to the continental shelf-slope break. The Nature Conservancy obtained this dataset from NEFSC and prepared it for Northeast Ocean Data.

Status

We are currently scoping potential enhancements to these products and/or the development of new products that characterize fish distribution and abundance in the northeast.
