Aquaculture Maps

About These Maps

These maps depict aquaculture sites in the region, along with information to support aquaculture planning. The regional aquaculture sites map should be considered a work in progress. It uses the best available information provided by each state and as such reflects differences among states in how aquaculture is documented (see metadata). In Connecticut, data on natural shellfish beds and state- or town-managed beds currently provide the best representation of aquaculture use, while for other states the map shows specific lease or license areas. In 2013, we are working with government agencies and the industry to map aquaculture areas in New York and Massachusetts, further refine the existing data sets and maps, and determine information needs for aquaculture site selection.
